APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING ON/OFF OPERATION OF STREET LAMP

PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling an on/off operation of a street lamp is provided to prevent the fusion welding of a relay due to a high voltage generated in a stabilizer by blocking a surge voltage generated by an initial discharge driving voltage of a secondary of the stabilizer to be induced into a primary relay contact circuit. CONSTITUTION: A switch(10) controls an on/off operation of a relay for lighting a high pressure discharge lamp(30) by a predetermined on-and-off signal to restrain lights-on/lights-off of the high pressure discharge lamp(30). In case that the relay for lighting is turned on and then a contact point of the relay becomes to be a closed circuit, a stabilizer(20) generates an initial driving high voltage for lighting the high pressure discharge lamp(30) by an applied source voltage. A surge blocking unit(40) is installed between an external case of the stabilizer(20) and the relay contact point of the switch(10), absorbs a surge voltage induced into the contact point of the relay to feedback it to the stabilizer(20), and blocks the surge voltage.
