PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery and a capacitor with excellent high rate characteristic and cycle characteristic with enough electromotive force and capacity. SOLUTION: This secondary battery contains as an electrode active material, a trimer compound obtained by bonding positions 2 and 3 of indole or indole derivatives, and proton is used as charge carrier of the trimer compound.
