PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate receiving timing with higher accuracy without increasing the sampling rate in an A/D converter and to reduce the power consumption and cost of a terminal in digital radio equipment. SOLUTION: Correlation value between digital I and Q signal strings stored in a received signal buffer 105 and a known symbol string inserted into a prescribed position is calculated in a vector operation, and receiving timing is first estimated in the sampling rate unit at a position where the value becomes maximum. The ratio of the estimated timing to the correlation value between the estimated timing and timing ahead the estimated timing by one sample is calculated, a position where difference becomes minimum is calculated by comparing the ratio with the table value of the value of the ratio that is preliminarily calculated in each small time interval, and the receiving timing is estimated more accurately than the sampling rate on the basis of the position.
