PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of the clamping pressure of a clamping device by a simple method. SOLUTION: The control method for the clamping device including a clamping mechanism section to transmit the rotational driving force of a motor to a tightening section to suppress an object to be fixed by means of a reduction gear composed of plural gears performs the control to once decrease the clamping pressure to hold down the object to be fixed before increasing the clamping pressure to attain the target clamping pressure after the tightening section of the clamping mechanism section comes into contact (collision) against the object to be fixed.
