PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a better recorded image by notifying the presence or absence of a camera shake to a photographer by a display means constituted of a liquid crystal display unit or the like by detecting the presence or absence of the camera shake in an electronic still camera for recording a photographed subject image as an image signal in a recording means. SOLUTION: Image signals of two frames including an image signal from an image photographing unit 101 by an operation of a shutter 106 and an image signal of one frame stored in a storage means 105 are temporarily stored in an image memory 102. A difference of the stored image signals is obtained in a camera shake detecting processor 107, and when the difference is a predetermined value or more, the presence of the camera shake is displayed on a display means 104 to show there is a camera shake.
