The fan comprises a casing accommodating an impeller, and with two side walls (23,24) constructed as end plates between which is fixed a circumferential wall (18) constructed as a curved sheet metal strip. Metal strips of different width as circumferential walls are fitted alternatively between the side walls to form casings (11) of different width. The side walls on their inner side have slots along the circumferential edge, apart from the exhaust region, to accommodate the edge sections of the circumferential wall.
