A machining condition is controlled by an electrode drive unit consisting of a machining electrode (101) mounting unit (106), radial drive units (107, 108) for supporting and driving the mounting unit (106) in a radial direction and in non-contact, and thrust drive units (111, 112) for supporting and driving the mounting unit (106) in a thrust direction and in non-contact, and by adjusting the position of the machining electrode (101) by means of the electrode drive unit. Such arrangement restrains an increase in mass of a portion to be driven concurrently with the electrode, and delivers a high responsiveness in X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis directions, thereby providing an electric discharge machining device capable of being improved in machining speed and machining precision.
