A spring device is described. The device includes a housing, a rotatable element mounted with the housing, the rotatable element being adapted to couple with a drive bar of a handle mechanism, and a spring means engaged between the housing and the rotatable element to apply a pre-set to the rotatable element. The spring device (10) includes three main components; a female housing (11), a male component (12) and a coil spring (13).
