PURPOSE: A wireless communication device for setting an automatic frequency channel and a tone frequency by the input of a number and a method therefor are provided to be convenient in use by automatically setting a frequency channel when a specific numerical code. CONSTITUTION: A filter and amplifying unit(80) amplifies a receiving information signal through a duplexer unit(60) and filters only a necessary band. A mixer(90) mixes a receiving signal through the filter and amplifying unit(80) with a phase synchronous signal outputted from a local oscillator(85). A demodulating unit(95) demodulates a signal outputted from the mixer(90) and supplies the demodulated signal to a speaker. A receiving tone squelch circuit(98) separates a voice signal from the output of the demodulating unit(95). A transmission modulating unit(50) synthesizes the receiving signal with a transmitting tone squelch frequency from the receiving tone squelch circuit(98), generates a transmission modulating signal, and modulates the transmission modulation signal. A controller(20) converts a code inputted from a code input unit(10) into a frequency and tone squelch code. A memory unit(30) stores coded data of frequency channel data selected by the controller(20) and data corresponding to the tone squelch code at a uniform address. A display unit(40) displays a frequency set by the controller(20).
