A relief valve assembly is disclosed including a housing (1) having an inlet (2), an outlet (6) and, passageway interconnecting the inlet (2) and outlet (6) and a valve seat (5). A moulded jumper (3) including a valve seal (16) is moveable to engage and disengage the valve seal (16) with the valve seat (5), thereby respectively closing or opening the passageway. The jumper (3) presents a continuous integral surface at least across said valve seat (5) when engaged the valve seat (5). In another embodiment the valve seal (16) is engaged with the jumper (3) in such a manner that the jumper (3) exerts substantially no compressive force on the valve seal (16) when the valve seal (16) is disengaged from the valve seat (5).
