PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a counter weight capable of solving the increase in machine body weight of a hydraulic shovel by the increase in weight of the counter weight and also the loss of the apparent integrated feeling of a super structure to impair the appearance by largely protruding only the counter weight backward because of the capacity necessary for engine room determined depending on the magnitude of a content (engine, hydraulic pump or the like). SOLUTION: This counter weight to be arranged in the rear part of the super structure comprises an outer plate forming the appearance, a weight chamber formed into a box shape by the outer plate, a heavy weight part arranged on the rear end side within the weight chamber, and a light weight part provided in the front of the heavy weight part within the weight part.
