PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin composition excellent in strength and rigidity as well as in surface appearances, which comprises a thermoplastic resin and a layered silicate composite. SOLUTION: The thermoplastic resin composition is obtained by melt- kneading (A) a thermoplastic resin and (B) a layered silicate composite, where the layered silicate composite, which has an exchangeable metal cation, existing between layers of a swelable layered silicate, exchanged with an organic onium ion and has the interlayer distance between the plate-like crystal layers of the layered silicate composite of 1.6-2.9 nm, is caused to be contained in an amount of 0.1-40 wt.% in terms of inorganic ash in the thermoplastic resin composition.
