PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the efficiency of bearing preload setting work by reducing the number of kinds of shims needed for preload setting for a tapered roller bearing for use in the ring gear support shaft of a differential or the like for adjusting the bearing preload by means of shims. SOLUTION: The tapered roller bearing 4 for vehicles is used in a portion where bearing preload is adjusted by means of a shim 6. The tolerance range of bearing assembly width is set at 50μm. Thereby the number of kinds of shims 6 needed can be reduced to about one-third.
