PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient electrification performance and sensitivity in an electrophotographic photoreception member having an a-Si photoreceptive layer, in particular, when a digital exposure light source is used, and to realize reduced residual potential and photomemory and high reproducibility of dots. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreception member having at least a substrate 101 and an amorphous silicon (a-Si, X) photoconductive layer 103 containing halogen atoms and a surface layer 104 laminated, the content of the halogen atoms is decreased from substrate side to the surface side.
