PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a,smooth acceleration and deceleration characteristic of a connected mating machine by mechanically ensuring a cushion start function. SOLUTION: A motorized drive device 100 comprises a motor 102 for generating rotating power, and rotatively drives a mating machine via an output shaft 104 connected to the mating machine. A friction roller transmission mechanism 110 comprising a sun roller 112, a planet roller 114, a ring roller 116 and a carrier 118 is interposed in a power transmission line from a motor shaft 106 to the output shaft 104. Any one of the sun roller 112, the ring roller 116 and the carrier 118 is used as an input element for receiving an input of the rotating power, and another one is used as an output element for outputting the rotating power. A motor shaft-reduced value Pi of the limit transmission torque P of the friction roller transmission mechanism 110 is set smaller than the starting torque S of the motor 102 and larger than the rated torque M of the motor.
