The present invention provides a simple and quick method for determining the nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial 21S ribosomal RNA gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by gene amplification technique, and a method for caassifying Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains using the same nucleotide sequence. <??>To achieve this object, the mitochondrial 21S ribosomal RNA gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is amplified by gene amplification technique, thereby determining the nucleotide sequence of the gene.
