PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a switch so that a starting train can be started as soon as possible after an oncoming train comes in. SOLUTION: This switch control device comprises a ground unit for a transponder which is provided o the ground at the vehicle contact limit position at which a tail end of the coming-in opposing train is not brought into contact with the starting train, a pick up for the transponder provided on the tail end of the opposing vehicle, and a control means for controlling the switch so that the starting train can be advanced based on the communication between the ground unit for the transponder and the pick up for the transponder.
