PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the defect of image quality due to a tension line caused by steering operation. SOLUTION: In this image forming device, a recording carrying belt 32b is stretched and laid on plural roll members 2 equipped with a driving roll 2a and a steering roll 2b, and an image on the image carrier 1 is transferred to the belt 3 directly or through recording material K. The device is equipped with a tension uniformizing means 5 for uniformizing the distribution of tension exerted in a direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of the belt 3 opposed to the image carrier 1.
