PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load of a processing unit (CPU) for executing interpolation operation. SOLUTION: An alternating-current output signal having an electrical phase angle shifted in phase corresponding to the detection object position. The phase difference of the alternating-current output signal relative to a prescribed reference phase is detected, to thereby generate detection data (P1). The operation is executed as interruption processing corresponding to a position detection demand, and the interpolation operation is executed to the generated detection data (P1). The time elapse (Txp) from the phase difference detection point of time to the interruption point of time for the interpolation operation is measured. The interpolation operation includes a step for obtaining predicted values (ΔP, VT) based on two or more samples (P0, P1) in the detection data close in time and a step for executing the interpolation operation to the detection data by using an interpolation ratio corresponding to the time elapse and the predicted values.
