PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system in which character information suitable to be used in medical relation is made to be displayable at the outside of a picture display area. SOLUTION: This system is a display system which has a picture display part and a character information display part which is to be provided at the outside of this picture display part and is for displaying the character information annexed to a picture. At this time, it is desirable that the picture display part is constituted of a transmission type liquid crystal display device. Moreover it is desirable that the character information display part is constituted of a display device in which binary display is possible. Moreover, it is desirable that character display in the character information display part is constituted to be erasable as necessary. Furthermore, in this system, it is desirable that a picture to be displayed on the picture display part and character information to be displayed on the character information display part correspond one to one to each other.
