PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To interrupt a gas supply source when it is decided that the concentration of CO gas in exhaust gas from a gas hot water supply device is abnormally high without specially treating an existing gas hot water supply device having no gas cutoff function and increasing a cost. SOLUTION: The gas interrupting device includes a CO detector 1 having a contact combustion type detecting element heated to detecting temperature to detect the CO gas and output a detecting signal in accordance with the concentration of the CO gas detected by the detecting element and a CO detector 2A having a cutoff signal output means for outputting a cutoff signal for cutting off the supply of gas to the gas hot water supply device 3A to the gas hot water supply device when it is decided that the concentration of the CO gas detected by the detecting element is a prescribed value or higher. The gas hot water supply device 3A is provided with a demagnetizing means 5a for demagnetizing and closing a solenoid valve for supplying gas in accordance with the cutoff signal.
