<p>A frame 11 has mounted on it, fixed cutter 9. Cater 13 moves within a slot in frame 11 and supports a rotating cutter 10, mounted on spindle 25. Roller 28 is co-axially mounted with cutter 10 and frictionally engages with it and with a surface 9a of fixed cutter 9. Spring 29 urges the cutter 10 into contact with cutter 10. Thus reciprocation of the carrier in the direction of fixed cutter 9 causes rotation of cutter 10 against the surface of cutter 9 to effect the cutting action. Carrier 13 is driven by an endless toothed belt (16), which is guided by pulleys (14, 15). Pulley (14) is driven by a motor (19) and an associated gearing system. The carrier 13 is attached to belt (16) in such a manner that it may be driven in either direction as the belt moves continuously in one direction. The cutting device is stated to be suitable for inclusion in printers, ticket vendors and other similar machines.</p> |
