PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimension measuring method and dimension measuring device capable of surely preventing the contact of the measurement head of an air gauge with a measuring object, thereby preventing the damage of a workpiece. SOLUTION: A guide 11 having a guide hole 12 for inserting the measuring matter W and a plurality or air outlet ports 13 and 14 circumferentially equally arranged on the guide hole inner surface is prepared, and the guide 11 is arranged on the upper part of the measurement head of the air gauge so that the guide hole 12 is coaxial to the measurement hole 2 of the measurement head 1. The measuring matter W is inserted to the guide hole 12 of the guide 11 while blowing the air supplied from an air supplying means through the air outlet ports 13 and 14, and sent into the measurement hole 2 of the measurement head 1 while keeping it in a neutral position by the blown air. During the measurement by the air gauge, the air blowing from the air outlet ports 13 and 14 is stopped.
