<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbo type blood pump, with which the disturbance of the circulation of the blood caused by an upper bearing in the case of supporting an impeller with upper and lower bearings is reduced and danger in the occurrence of a problem such as blood stagnation or thrombus formation is reduced. SOLUTION: This pump is provided with a housing 1 having a pump chamber 2, an inlet port 3 and an outlet port 4, an impeller 5 located to rotate in the pump chamber, upper and lower bearings 9 and 10 for supporting the impeller 5 to rotate and a driving power transmitting means for rotationally driving the impeller 5. The upper bearing 9 is supported to be positioned inside the pump chamber 2 under the inlet port 3, the cross-sectional area of the pump chamber on a surface orthogonal to the shaft of the impeller while including the upper terminal of the upper bearing has a sufficient size in respect to the conduit cross-sectional area of the inlet port in a coupling part with the pump chamber, and a fault to the circulation of the blood caused by the upper bearing can be almost practically ignorable.</p> |
