METHOD OF TREATING STEEL MAKING SLAG AND SAND-WASHING SLUDGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat powdery slag generated in a steel making plant and sand- washing sludge generated in the manufacture of sand and to utilize them. SOLUTION: A binder 3 containing CaO such as cement or lime is added into powdery slag and sand-washing sludge 2, which are difficult to use individually due to the fineness, and mixed by a kneader 4. The powdery slag 1 and CaO in the binder 3 causes pozzolan reaction with SiO2 in the sand washing sludge 2 to be solidified to form a bulky solid as an agglomerated material 5. The agglomerated material 5 is aged as it is or is treated under a high temperature and high pressure steam atmosphere to increase the strength, is used for harbor construction, the manufacture of concrete block or an regenerated crusher-run or other material for civil construction work.
