PURPOSE: To enable gear ratio follow-up control and to realize torque transmission capacity of a friction element at the end of an inertia phase as aimed even if the change of the actual gear ratio deviates from expectation. CONSTITUTION: In this variable speed control device of an automatic transmission, there are provided plural friction elements, and the actuator operating oil of at least a first friction element, for example, is connected and disconnected by a pressure control device to shift from the first speed stage to the second speed stage. According to the pressure control, the torque transmission capacity of the first friction element is increased and decreased, and in the inertia phase of shifting from the first speed stage to the second speed stage, the torque transmission capacity is set according to the input/output rotation ratio changing according to shifting form the first speed stage to the second speed stage (step 101 to 104). |
