PURPOSE: To provide an aqueous resin composition useful as a binder for a fibrous material, e.g. glass fibers, or as an aqueous coating material. CONSTITUTION: This composition is prepared by compounding a polyepoxy compound represented by formula (I) (wherein n is 0.1-20; Z is a direct bond, an alkylidene group having 1-4 oxygen atoms, or SO2; and X is H or a glycidyl group provided at least 10% of the total X groups are glycidyl) with water.
