PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that using sensation of the user is impaired in the continuous tilt correction since the time is required for this operation in the case that a tilt correction signal has the characteristic of the reproduction jitter amount, and that the application of this method is impossible for the recording type optical disk. SOLUTION: The tilt correction means is operated so that the modulation degree of the light quantity ratio in the detection of the light reflected from groove areas G and flat planar land areas L becomes almost maximum in the state the focus servo is applied. Thus, such a method is provided as applicable for every optical disk of recording type or reproduction exclusive type and capable of detecting the tilt correction signal without preparing the special countermeasure in the optical disk or the device, then the optical recording device without impairing the using sensation of the user is obtained.
