PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet type motor which can reduce cogging torque and suppress decrease is motor output. SOLUTION: In a permanent magnet type motor which is equipped with a rotor using as a magnetic field means, a plurality of permanent magnets arranged at equal intervals in circular form, for the cross section of the permanent magnet 1, the inner circumferential margin is made of a first circular arc with a radius R3 and a central angle T1, and the outer circumferential margin is made of the second circular arc, a third circular arc which joins one end of the second circular arc, and a fourth circular arc which joins the other end of the second circular arc. The second circular arc has the same center A as that of a first circular arc 111, a radius R1 which is larger than the radius R3, and a central angle T2 which is smaller than the central angle T1. The third circular arc has a center B, which is positioned on the line segment, connecting one end of the second circular arc with the center of the second circular arc, and a radius R2 which is smaller than the radius R1. The fourth circular arc has a center C, which is positioned on the line segment connecting the other end of the second circular arc with the center of the second circular arc, and a radius R2.
