PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a data transmission network that facilitates a 'diagonal' connection without the need for an additional technological facility. SOLUTION: The method is for operating the data transmission network 10 consisting of at least two outer rings 11, 13 and an intermediate ring 12 coupled with the outer rings 11, 13 via nodes 14, 15, 16. The node 14 acts like a central node with respect to all of the three rings 11, 12, 13. The nodes 14, 15, 16 include switches 23, 24, 25, 26 for establishing connection, respectively. It is recognized that the connection is to be set up from one of the outer rings 11, 13 to the other outer rings 13, 11 via the intermediate ring 12. Then the connection is set up by taking all of the 3 rings 11, 12, 13 into account. |
