<p><PICT:1116570/C1/1> Sewage is admitted by pipe 20 to aerator and comminutor 10 with roughened rings 15, 16 and 17. Liquid is recirculated in path 21-23-27 with air being drawn in by a Venturi aspirator from tank 30 by pipe 35. Partially treated sewage is discharged by outlet 29 to tank 30 where it is aerated by a Venturi aspirator, which is open to the atmosphere, in line 33-36-38-43. The sewage is directed against a baffle target 44. The treated liquid passes by pipe 49 to a settling tank 50 for discharge of sludge via pipe 59 and clarified effluent by weir 57. An ozonizer 62 may be operated in the aeration lines. If there is a heavy loading of liquid to be treated, the level in tank 30 rises above outlet 35. This leads to a build-up of air pressure in tank 30 with a consequent automatic adjustment of the loading.</p> |
