A device, a method and a system for an Internet switch. The Internet switch enables the identity of the user to be authenticated for accessing various resources on the Internet, as well as in order to reproduce the working environment of the user even at a remote computational device. The Internet switch stores a profile of the user, with preferences for the working environment, as well as with identification information and preferably other types of information. The user profile is then used to create the working environment of the user, for example with regard to preferences for operating hardware devices and/or software programs on a computational device. In addition, more preferably the user profile is used to determine the resources, such as stored data, to which the user has access. According to preferred embodiments of the present invention, the Internet switch also enables data privacy to be maintained, even in a distributed computing environment, in which the user may access network resources through a plurality of access points. The Internet switch also preferably provides data encryption and decryption facilities, in order to maintain data privacy during transmission through a network such as the Internet. |
