PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for a vehicle capable of directing stereoscopic feeling like floating of a display plate in a ring illuminating member for gradation illuminating toward its forward from behind an instrument display plate for the vehicle. SOLUTION: The instrument for the vehicle comprises the light transmitting ring illuminating member 26 formed in substantially cylindrical shape and having a tapered surface 27A gradually reducing in a radius of a cylindrical inner peripheral surface from a peripheral edge of a front end toward a peripheral edge of a depth end and then a curved surface 27B, a light transmitting display plate 25 disposed by assuring a predetermined gap between the plate 25 and the inner peripheral surface of the member 26 between the front end edge and the depth end edge of the cylindrical interior of the member 26, and the light source 35 disposed near at the depth end edge of the member 26.
