The measuring method uses a precision inclination sensor (5) secured at right angles to a common rotation axis (1) for the inclination and an angle sensor (3,4), so that its center of gravity is in line with the rotation axis. A setting drive is used for positioning the inclination sensor in the horizontal plane, with calculation of the inclination angle from the angular variation relative to a reference mark.
