摘要 Connected composite arrangements are produced on a substrate. At defined locations, educts of two or more substances are deposited. All are subjected to identical reaction conditions at the same time. From the substances, at individual locations of the substrate, a composite arrangement is formed. For each of these, an external stimulus alters an inherent property. The alteration is determined. A composite showing a desired property alteration, is selected. An Independent claim is included for corresponding apparatus. It has the capability to make reversible electrical contact at defined locations on the substrate, so that numbers of composite arrangements are electrically-addressable. Preferred Features: The external stimulus is the effect of a gas or liquid, especially a substance to be detected. A composite arrangement is contacted electrically. The property of interest, i.e. that property altered by external stimulus, is the magnitude of an electrical potential at the surface of the substance. A voltage may be applied, the property of interest being the pumped flow induced. In a further alternative, ohmic resistance, capacity and/or the impedance are exploited as properties of interest. Rate of alteration of a property under external stimulus is the magnitude of interest, and the composite arrangement exhibiting a desired rate of alteration, is selected. The substrate may be heated during the determination.
