The invention relates to surfaces of tools, machines and work tools covered with a defined microstructure which consists of a plurality of microscopic cavities or projections. With the aid of said microstructure, material placed against said surface only comes into contact with a small part of the surface, the remainder of the surface avoiding contact with the material placed against said surface. Due to limiting the surface contact area, a corresponding reduction in adherence is achieved resulting in none or only a small proportion of material being deposited on the surfaces of the inventively provided tool surfaces.
