The carrier plate (1) for analysis by mass spectrometry of bio-molecules, holds the samples in a solution as droplets (5) on hydrophilic anchor zones (2) with hydro- or lyophobic surfaces. They are dried together with matrix substance for ionization with matrix laser desorption ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry. The carrier for bio-molecules has hydrophilic anchor zones, surrounded by rings of affinity sorbents. The sample carrier has the shape and dimensions of a micro-titration plate. The anchor zones form a screen pattern. Zones (3) with affinity sorbents for the bio-molecules are next to the hydrophilic anchor zones. The basic quadratic pattern of the screen is 9 mm for the separate vessels, or a whole number fraction for a finer screen. Non-selective affinity sorbents are used, to clean bio-molecule mixtures, using covalent surface-bonded alkane chains. Selected affinity sorbents can be used for cleaning a preselection of given bio-substance groups. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) production of a sample carrier, using a plate with a smooth hydrophilic surface. The hydrophobic or affinity sorbent layer is applied by printing on to the surfaces to be protected, using an ink which can be dissolved later; (2) a sample carrier preparation method, where solutions containing uncleaned bio-molecules are applied as droplets on to the anchor zones, which also cover the zones of affinity sorbents. The bio-molecules of interest in the analysis are bonded to the layer of affinity sorbents. The sample carrier plate is washed and dried, and the bio-molecules of interest remain bonded in place. Droplets (6) of an eluting matrix solution are applied and, when dried, they form matrix crystals (8) on the hydrophilic anchor zones where at least part of the bio-molecules are bonded in place. |
