The hollow profiled support comprises a first light metal shell part (2) and a second light metal shell part (3) each of certain relative wall thickness. The two shell parts are connected together indirectly in at least one associated longitudinal edge area so that an associated outside plate marginal flange (7, 8) bridges the two associated adjoining longitudinal edge areas of the shell parts. These two relatively thick wall edges are only connected to the relatively thin wall outside plate flange by laser welding from outside through the flange.
