PURPOSE: A method for sensing engine misfire of automatic transmission is provided to prevent sensing wrong by calculating engine angular acceleration roughness caused by sensing of ignition time in case of up shift in an automatic transmission vehicle. CONSTITUTION: The method for sensing engine misfire of automatic transmission, deciding misfire by calculating engine angular acceleration roughness with segment duration and deciding misfire by deciding a threshold is abnormal, comprises a step calculating any angular acceleration roughness in the calculated engine angular acceleration roughness(44), a step deciding any angular acceleration roughness is below a threshold(45), a step counting the number of ignition if the roughness is below a threshold(47), and a step(46) deciding the counted number of ignition is over a threshold((48), and a step deciding misfire by subtracting an angular acceleration roughness from angular acceleration roughness and deciding the roughness is lower than a threshold if the counted number of ignition is over a threshold(49).
