PURPOSE: A load limit device of a seat belt for an automobile is provided to reduce injure of a human body by reducing a sense of oppression applied to the human's body through a seat belt when the automobile comes into collision. CONSTITUTION: A load limit device of a seat belt for an automobile includes a clutch(26) disposed on an outer circumference of a retractor for restricting rotation of a spool(21), and a load sensor(27) mounted on the outside of the clutch for sensing load applied to the spool. The clutch is controlled by an actuator(29) controlled by an electronic control unit(ECU) receiving information of the load sensor. The load limit device is mounted on the spool mounted on the retractor for winding a belt(20), so that the load limit device can prevent shock generated when the automobile comes into collision.
