PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding tray to improve paper feeding performance against breakage of the forward end of a paper sheet and no feed of paper sheets regardless of the loading amount of paper sheets on a bottom plate. SOLUTION: A bottom plate fulcrum shaft 5 is situated in a guide 16 fixed at a paper feeding tray 1 and a bottom plate 4 is energized in the direction of the loading height of paper sheets P through the force of a pressure spring 17 from the inner lower part of the guide 16. During full loading of the paper sheets P, the pressure spring 17 is compressed by the weight thereof, and the heights of the forward and rearward ends of the bottom plate 4 are positioned at the same height. In the case the number of paper sheets P is small, at the bottom plat fulcrum shaft 5, a force approximately equal to a press force exerted by the paper feed roller 2 is exerted on the forward end of the paper sheet, and the forward end and rearward end of the bottom plate 4 are positioned in the same height. The upper part of the guide 16 is adjusted by the bottom plate fulcrum shaft 5 such that the rearward end and forward end of the bottom plate 4 are positioned in the same height and the upper limit position of the bottom plate fulcrum shat 5 is regulated. The bottom plate 4 is positioned approximately horizontally both during full loading and during loading of a small amount and the advance angle of a friction pad 6 for the paper sheets P is kept approximately equal.
