PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective element eliminating hindrances to other circuits, raising the regeneration rate thereof, and shortening the time taken to reach a temperature required to blow a wiring layer, composed of a low- melting metal by the heating of a heating element, when a voltage is applied to the heating element during the operation of a protection circuit. SOLUTION: The protective element A, constituted by having an insulating layer 5 cover the surface of the heating element 2 formed on the surface of an insulated substrate 1, permits the wiring layer 6 formed of the low-melting metal on the surface of the insulating layer 5, to be blown due to the heat generated by the heating element 2. The insulated substrate 1 is formed of a mullite sintered compact, having a thermal conductivity of 10 W/m.K or lower, and the heating element 2 is formed of a conductor predominantly, composed of at least one kind selected from among tungsten(W), molybdenum(Mo) and rhenium(Re).
