<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic toll-charging system for toll road, which peeps new investment to minimum and utilizes the existent infrastructure to a maximum level. SOLUTION: When an automobile, on which a portable telephone terminal is loaded, enters the prescribed communication region of an entrance tollgate on a toll road, the road side communications equipment provided in the entrance tollgate communicates with this portable telephone terminal, the identification number (telephone number or the like) of the portable telephone terminal is detected and a signal (e.g. the telephone number of an own terminal) expressing the portable telephone terminal loaded on the relevant automobile (one terminal to become the target of toll charging when there are plural terminals) is transmitted from that portable telephone terminal and is detected within the prescribed communication region. When this automobile leaves the toll road, similar processing is conducted in the exit tollgate as well; and when the information detected in he entrance agrees with information detected at the exit, the passing toll of that block is calculated. Then, the toll is collected through a cellular phone company.</p> |
