PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both the observation of the inside of a low-temperature bath by an erect image, and the miniaturization and weight reduction of a device. SOLUTION: In the observation device that is inserted into the bath via a nozzle section that is provided at the ceiling section of the low-temperature bath, an observation device body 1 is connected to one end of a cable 2 incorporating a conductor for transmitting an image signal and can be moved up and down freely, where the body 1 comprises a rotary drive device 3, a downward image pickup device 4 that is subjected to pan rotation around a vertical axis center by the rotary drive device 3, and a side-viewing mirror 5 that is fitted to the lower section of the image pickup device 4. And, a monitor 10 is connected to the other end of the cable 2 via an image inversion processing device 9 for erecting a mirror image that is applied to the image pickup device 4 and is reversed left and right by performing left/right inversion processing.
