PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove noise appearing in a brightness component within an image. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises a CCD for receiving an image, selection means (S3) for detecting an edge using the brightness component of the received image to detect a particular edge out of the detected edges, and correction means (S4) for correcting the brightness component of the selected particular edge.
