PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone response computer system having very high conveniences for a user. SOLUTION: A line controller 13 controls a line, by detecting a call in from a telephone line 40. When the call in is detected by the line controller 13, information indicating the presence of the call in is displayed on a display 22. When the telephone cannot be connected to a user when being called in, a speech composer 18 composes a speech signal for informing the effect to send it to a caller. A speech recognizer 16 recognizes a speech message from the caller by a speech, and converts it into a text to display it on the display 22 of a computer. When further the telephone is not connected to a non-caller, key input from a key board 20 is accepted, and the speech composer 18 converts it into the speech signal, and transmits it to the caller. Furthermore, at display indication of the presence of the call in, the user can select a callback from the display screen.
