PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly perform halftone processing. SOLUTION: A threshold of a cell P1 is read from a memory. Next, each tone value of the cell P1 (tone value of cells 11 to 16 and the like) is read from the memory. Then, output data is found based on the read threshold and read each tone value. Similar processing is performed for P2 to PL. With this, since the threshold has only to be read for the same number of times as that of the cells within a threshold array, a halftone processing speed will be increased.
