PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small, flat and low-profile protective element which uses shape-memory alloy and reduces the number of components. SOLUTION: Lead wires 4 and 5 are connected to a pair of conductors 2 and 3 formed at positions separated from each other on an insulated substrate 1. One end of a movable contact 6, composed of the plate-shaped shape memory alloy, is connected for fixation to one conductor 2, the other end thereof comes into pressed-contact with the other conductor 3, and an insulating cap 7, which covers the movable contact 6 from above, is fixed and sealed with a sealing resin 8.
