PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounting crystal resonator that maintains the joining strength to a printed circuit board. SOLUTION: In the crystal resonator where a crystal chip is contained in a surface mounting package in which two each of surface mounting terminal electrodes are extended to opposed side faces on a bottom face, grooves are provided on the bottom face of the surface mounting package existing between the terminal electrodes extended to the opposed side faces. In the crystal resonator where the crystal chip is contained in the surface mounting package having a couple of terminal electrodes for surface mount extended to the side faces on the bottom face, a couple of the terminal electrodes of the surface mounting package are provide on one side.
