The cooling fluid circuit for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine has a fluid pump which is connected to the engine via a coolant duct. The duct (8) has a valve (9) between the pump (7) and the engine (2). The valve selectively closes off the duct using a slide to vary the amount of coolant reaching the engine.
